How it works
1. Complete our online form, detailing the initial information we need about the property.
2. We will review the information you have sent us and arrange a house visit to generate a quote.
3. Once you have agreed the quote, we will organise a date to carry out the house clearance.
It's kind to the planet, preventing items from going into landfill and being reused or recycled instead.
Our supportive and professional team take the stress out of a task that may be daunting, emotional or time-consuming.
The money we generate from selling the items collected from the property will mean more people can access our care.
What area do you cover?
We collect donated furniture from the Garden House Hospice Care catchment area, which includes Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Baldock, Royston, Biggleswade and all the villages in between. If you live outside this area, additional charges may incur.

Do you charge for house clearances?
Yes, this will depend on how much you need clearing. We will provide you an estimate upon completing our online form and carrying out a house visit.
Is there a minimum size of clearance?
No, there is no minimal size of property. We also clear lofts, sheds, offices and more.

We will also collect boxes/bags of smaller donations with your house clearance, such as large and small electrical appliances, clothing, shoes, accessories and jewellery, CDs, books and homeware.
Is there anything you will not clear?
We are incredibly grateful for the donations we receive through our collection services, however there are some things that we cannot sell for safety or legal reasons:
- Oil / chemicals / medical waste / paint
- Explosives / ammunition / weapons
- Petrol / fuel / petrol machinery
- Asbestos
- Drugs of any kind (medication etc.)
- Building materials
- Gas / compressed bottles
- Any unknown substances

Will items incur an additional charge?
Mattresses and sofas without a fire safety label or those not in a usable condition will incur an additional charge. This is to cover the additional costs incurred by us to dispose of them, as opposed to reselling from our shops or The Depot.
