Introduction to Upholstery

This course is now full. To be the first to know about future Upcycling courses, please like The Upcycling House on Facebook or follow @garden_house_upcycling on Instagram.

Learn the first steps you need to recover upholstered furniture from Garden House Hospice Care’s expert Upcycling team. This workshop will see you upholstering a footstool or drop-in seat with your choice of fabric - you can either bring your own to match your home décor, or choose from our supply.

If you have a specific piece chair or stool at home you would like to refresh, you can bring this with you to the upholstery workshop. Otherwise, we have a selection of donated items you can work on. Foam, wadding and fire-resistant calico will all be provided.

Our Upcycling department is made up of three professional upcyclers and a team of talented volunteers. They take donated items and furniture that isn't fit for sale in our shops and make it fabulous again - with paint, upholstery and decoupage amongst their skills. They are the perfect guides to give you an introduction to upholstery, all while helping the Hospice fund its vital palliative care in North Hertfordshire and surrounding villages.
