Common Themes in Dementia

These sessions are for carers/family/friends/informal carers that are caring for someone living with dementia.

The Admiral Nurse’s have identified some of the most common issues/themes in dementia and feel these four training sessions will help carers to understand and manage them better.

Four sessions:

• Session 1 -  Thursday 23^rd May  - 10.30 -12pm  -  Communication and Unmet Needs in  Dementia - including behavioural challenges
• Session2 - Thursday 6^th June 10.30 -12pm - Physical Needs - including pain, nutrition and delirium
• Session 3 - Thursday 20^th June 10.30 -12pm - Anticipatory Grief - carers emotions and feelings
• Session 4 - Thursday 11^th July 10.30-12pm - Looking after yourself and planning for the future

Note: Sessions cannot be booked individually, when booking carers will be booking for all four sessions.

All sessions will be held at the same time as the Healthy Memory Cafe which runs 10am-12pm at the Ernest Gardiner Treatment Centre. Your loved one with dementia is welcome to come to the café and volunteers and staff will be available to support them whilst you attend the training session in the building next door at the Hospice.

Please ensure you inform Lucy Cosgrove on 07377876257 if you would like the person living with dementia to attend the Healthy Memory Café from 10am on those days.
