#ThankYou Volunteers

We are celebrating Volunteers’ Week by thanking our 785 incredible volunteers for their support across the charity in a year unlike any other.

Volunteers’ Week takes place between 1-7 June every year and sees charities and voluntary groups celebrating across the nation, shining a spotlight on the vital role volunteers play in charitable organisations across the country.

The theme for this year’s Volunteers’ Week is ‘A time to say thanks’ and we would like to recognise and thank everyone who has given up their time to offer support to the local charity, including:

  • Those who’ve continued to volunteer throughout the pandemic
  • Those who have been unable to volunteer for various reasons, including shielding, but remain supportive to our cause
  • Our Compassionate Neighbours, who have continued to reach out and provide social and emotional support to local people experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
  • Our Trustees who continue to volunteer their expertise and have helped guide the Hospice through this unprecedented year

“This National Volunteers Week, more than ever is a time for us to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers. Volunteering has been hugely impacted by the pandemic and it has not been an easy time for the Hospice, but volunteers have helped us thrive and continue to strive in our delivery of services for patients and families.

“Volunteers have continued to support us from home by serving those who were isolated, fundraising for the Hospice and promoting the services that the Hospice offer. Volunteers have been instrumental in getting shops up and running again, collecting donations and supporting our online sales team. Whether they have returned back to us are still waiting to return, we want to say thank you for all they do. We couldn’t do what we do without them.”

“We currently have a number of voluntary opportunities available at the Hospice, including an urgent need for volunteers to support us in our 12 charity shops across North Hertfordshire and beyond. From a few hours a week to a few days a week, your support can help us continue to care for local families in need of vital end of life care in our community.”
