Volunteer Van Driver's Assistant
Join our team and make a difference in the community! As a Van Driver's Assistant, you will help to transport goods such as clothing, furniture, and household items between our Hospice, The Depot, and shops across Stevenage and North Hertfordshire. You will also support with house clearances and visit local homes to collect or deliver donated items, offering a friendly face and excellent customer service. Every day will provide new experiences and opportunities to meet different people while contributing to a meaningful cause.
How you can help
- Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Commit to Garden House Hospice Care’s mission and values
- Be reliable and punctual
- Offer a friendly and engaging manner in all interactions
- Support staff members in the transportation of goods between The Depot, shops and local community
- Ability to work well in a team alongside both staff members and fellow volunteers
- A good level of fitness is required
- Minimum shift length of 3-4 hours required due to the nature of the role
- Shifts are available on both weekdays and weekends.

Training and support
- You will receive ongoing support from staff and fellow volunteers, who will always be on hand to help
- No prior experience is required. Induction and training will be given in role
- You will be entitled to receive free access to our Volunteer Assistance Programme, which offers confidential support and advice.
