Regular Giving Gift

Garden House Hospice Care provides free care in Stevenage, North Herts and the surrounding towns and villages of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. We are a local charity which relies on the support of our community to continue to provide specialist care for patients and their families facing a life limiting illness. Your regular gift, however big or small, could make such a difference and will help us to continue to provide our specialist care in the months ahead.

Carly's Story

Untitled design (1)"In May 2009, my wonderful mum Bev was rushed to hospital with an obstruction of the bowel, which turned out to be cancer. She was 49 years old.

"The tumour was removed and Mum underwent chemotherapy treatment, but she was told that the cancer had spread into the lining of her stomach.

"Mum’s life expectancy was just 12–18 months at this time; however, she defied all odds and lived a very full life with cancer for a further nine years.

"In June 2017, following a routine scan, Mum was told that the cancer had progressed and she resumed chemotherapy treatment.

"In May 2018, we got a phone call to say that Mum was very poorly. A scan showed that the cancer had spread to her brain, which was causing paralysis from her neck down.

"We were told that Mum needed end-of-life care and it was suggested that she go to Garden House Hospice Care.

"The Hospice wasn’t as I expected. I imagined it would be like a hospital, but from the first nurse we met, to the room Mum was staying in, I knew it was a very special place. We were encouraged to bring our children in for visits and they loved to play in the garden and in the games room next door to Nanny. It was a home from home.

"We are very grateful that Mum’s last few precious weeks were spent at the Hospice, where we felt comfortable as a family and by Mum’s side. She left the world knowing she was truly loved and cared for."

How your gift can help

Setting up a regular payment is very easy and you can choose how much and how often you make your gift. For example, you can pay an amount of your choice every month, every quarter or once a year.

£5 a month could contribute to services run by our Hawthorne Day Centre

£10 a month could pay for our Hospice at Home nurse to make a home visit

£20 a month could support a bereaved family with counselling
