Charity bike ride raises £13k in its 20th year
A cycling event starting and finishing outside the George & Dragon Pub in Graveley recently took place for the 20th year running. It has now collectively raised more than £64,000 for Garden House Hospice Care.
On Saturday 12th August, ‘Kerry’s Annual Charity Bike Ride’ saw more than 200 cyclists take on a 32-mile circular route in aid of the Hospice. The event was followed by a family-friendly summer fête, consisting of live music, local stalls, a barbeque and games.
Event organiser Kerry Golds confirmed that the day raised a total of £13,277.98. She is ‘delighted’ with how the event has progressed over time:
“To see my bike ride grow over the last 20 years has been amazing. This year’s celebrations for its 20th year saw our highest amount of participants ?" in excess of 200 ?" and the money raised to date was just brilliant and the most yet.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to every single person who took part, sponsored, donated, and helped on the day.”
Claire Lunnon, our Fundraising Coordinator, added:
“I would like to thank the continued dedication and hard work from Kerry and all her friends and family for organising this event and helping to raise vital funds for the patients and families of Garden House Hospice Care. The amount raised this year alone could fund nearly two days of our Inpatient Unit running at full capacity, including the cost of nursing and our doctors, and running costs like hot water and keeping the unit clean.
“I felt privileged to be part of Kerry’s 20th Annual Charity Bike Ride - it was bustling with cyclists and their families, and the atmosphere was just incredible.”
