Steve Mellish appointed as Chairman of Trustees

Garden House Hospice Care has appointed Steve Mellish as its new Chairman of Trustees.

A Trustee at the Hospice since 2016, Steve steps up from his previous position of Chairman of our Trading Board, which he has held since 2017.

Prior to becoming a Trustee, Steve previously spent more than 16 years as Head of Business Continuity at Sainsbury’s and then 14 years as a director and two-time Chairman of The Business Continuity Institute, an international organisation for business resilience which had approximately nine thousand members across more than 110 countries.

Steve Mellish, commented:

“I feel very proud and honoured to be entrusted in the position of Chairman of Garden House Hospice Care.

“I have absolutely loved being so involved in the Trading Company. The hard work and commitment of the staff and volunteers across our 12 shops and Distribution Centre is phenomenal and a testament to what has been achieved.

“Now, as Chairman of the Hospice, I am very excited about what lies ahead and what I can hopefully bring to the role.

“The pandemic has been very tough for everyone in so many different ways but the Hospice has really demonstrated how resilient it is in maintaining its amazing services to the communities we serve.

“I believe passionately that we can build on that resilience to become even stronger and make an even greater impact to even more people who need our services. I also know, without a shadow of doubt, that what we achieve is only possible through the dedication and commitment of all of our staff and 785 volunteers and for that I cannot thank them enough.”

Sue Plummer, Chief Executive at Garden House Hospice Care added:

“We are delighted to welcome Steve as our new Chairman of Trustees. During his five years as Trustee, Steve has provided great knowledge and expertise to the Board and successfully led our Trading Company through its most challenging period.

“We very much look forward to working with him to continue the excellent work of our previous Chairman, John Procter, as we look to strengthen the Board and develop new strategies to outline our future ambitions for the Hospice.”
