A Christmas Supermarket Sweep

GHHC trolley dash4

Lucky winner of the Grand Prize Draw Alma Bishop, Stevenage received an amazing opportunity to fill a trolley full of festive food, supported by Sainsburys Letchworth.  Grandson Rob Doyle took on the 3 minute Christmas Trolley Dash on her behalf amongst unsuspecting Christmas Shoppers 8.30 am Wednesday, 21 December.

They were both really delighted by the opportunity and fun experience.

Alma has been supporting the Hospice for 13 years since her son in law, Bill Doyle was in our care. This was the first time Alma had bought some of our Grand Prize Draw tickets. We are very grateful of her ongoing support and her regular donation for our annual Light up a Life campaign.

When Alma arrived at the store, she spotted a collection basket for donations of dog or cat food for the Shepreth Hedgehog Hospital. The one specific thing Alma asked Rob to grab was the pet food for the Hedgehogs.  We are sure the trolley full of festive food collected will be enjoyed by Alma and her family over the holidays.

Jordan Russell, Community Fundraiser said “Alma and Rob were such lovely winners and participants, it was a pleasure to meet them.  I would like to thank everyone who supported the Hospice by purchasing a Grand Prize Draw ticket. To Kate Swan, Store Manager, Ian Mullinger, Duty Manager and all the wonderful staff at Sainsburys Letchworth who made this event happen”.

Kate Swan, Store Manager, Sainsburys Letchworth said “It’s been fantastic to see the way everyone has pulled together since we started working with Garden House Hospice Care. We’ve enjoyed coming up with ways to support and volunteer for this very worthy cause and it’s great to think that we’re making a positive difference to so many people.”
