Borneo has some of the last untouched rainforests in the world, with wildlife and plant life that you just can’t see anywhere else. The term “challenge of a lifetime” doesn’t get handed around lightly, but this adventure in Borneo should rank high on anyone’s bucket list, taking in the opportunity to trek through one of the UNESCO world heritage sites.
The state of Sabah, where our challenge is focused, is a land of incredible natural beauty and diversity.
It’s here that you will find Kinabalu National Park; a UNESCO World Heritage Siteconsidered one of the most important biological sites in the world due to the extremely large number of species of plants and wildlife which are found here.
Our trek passes through paddy fields, rubber plantations and fruit orchards with a couple of river crossings along the way. One evening you will camp in Lobong Lobong village in a local community hall; which is a great opportunity to interact with the local people.
After 5 days of trekking you will have the chance to enjoy a river cruise in search of the long nosed Proboscis monkey and you’ll also head to the world-famous Sepilok orang-utan sanctuary. Here you will have the chance to see and learn about these amazing animals before preparing for the flight back to the UK.
This adventure combines every element of classic expeditions - rivers, jungle, mountains, and incredible wildlife. Borneo is sensory overload at its best!
