Shop Assistants

Overview

As a volunteer shop assistant, you will play an important role in helping to raise vital funds for Garden House Hospice Care. You will work alongside other volunteers and staff members to ensure that our shops run smoothly, provide excellent customer service and generate revenue to help us support people in our community to live life to the full.


Responsibilities

  • Displaying donated items for sale, ensuring that they are clean, in good condition and meet our quality standards
  • Ensuring the shop is clean, organised and safe for customers and volunteers
  • Greeting customers and provide a friendly shopping experience
  • Assisting customers with their purchases
  • Operating the till
  • Answering questions and provide information about Garden House Hospice Care
  • Assisting with other tasks as required


What we need from you

  • A commitment to Garden House Hospice Care’s mission and values
  • Attention to detail and the ability to organise donated items effectively
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow directions from staff members
  • Confidence in handling cash and using a till
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry items up to 25 pounds

Time Commitment

We ask for a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week, ideally for a regular shift. However, we understand that schedules may vary and can be flexible.


Training and Support

You will need to undertake mandatory training to ensure that you can undertake your role safely and confidently. You will also be supported by our staff members and other volunteers, who will be available to answer your questions and provide guidance as needed.
