Junior Sister / Charge Nurse

We have exciting opportunities for Registered Nurses to join our wonderful Inpatient Unit team!


Who are we and what do we do?

We are Garden House Hospice Care, the Hospice for North Hertfordshire.  We are a multi award-winning hospice that puts the patient at the heart of everything we do.  Patients on our inpatient unit are looked after by our specialist team 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We provide support and care to patients with a wide range of symptoms associated with a life-limiting illness, as well as their families. We support our patients by providing symptom control, psychological support and end of life care. Our high nurse-to-patient ratio ensures that patients are able to get the dedicated support that they might need.

 
What does the Junior Sister role involve?
  • You will provide specialist palliative care to patients with life limiting illness and support to their families and loved ones.
  • You will deliver appropriate symptom control, care and medication within agreed Hospice Guidelines, and support team members to develop these skills in practice.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care from the point of admission through to discharge or death.
  • You will work alongside all members of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring collaborative working for the benefit of our patients.

 

What skills do I need for the Junior Sister role?
  • NMC Registration.
  • You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of life limiting disease management or palliative and end of life care.
  • You will have the ability to assess the complex needs of patients and plan, implement and evaluate appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to balance conflicting priorities and manage a challenging workload in a calm and professional manner.
