We are looking for an inspiring Head of Marketing and Communications to lead our talented team during a period of maternity cover. This is an opportunity for an experienced communications professional to use their skills in a role that has genuine purpose and impact.
While this is a fixed-term position, it offers the chance to play a vital leadership role within our organisation - shaping how we communicate our mission, engage our community and inspire the support that makes our care possible. You’ll be part of a compassionate and dedicated team, leading meaningful work and powerful storytelling that helps ensure more people understand, access and support the care we provide.
The role
This is a pivotal leadership position where you will provide strategic direction for all marketing and communications activity across the Hospice. You will lead a skilled team of four professionals and work closely with our CEO and Executive Team to ensure our voice is compelling, consistent and impactful across all channels.
Blending strategic thinking with creative storytelling, you will help us grow awareness of hospice care, strengthen our reputation, and support vital income generation that enables our services to continue.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide strategic leadership for all marketing and communications activity
- Lead the delivery of our annual marketing and communications plan aligned to organisational priorities
- Support and develop a team of four marketing and communications professionals
- Oversee integrated campaigns across digital, media, print and internal communications
- Work closely with the CEO and Executive Team on strategic messaging and reputation management
- Lead media engagement locally and nationally, securing meaningful coverage
- Ensure the hospice’s voice is compelling, authentic and audience-focused
- Oversee the development of powerful storytelling and content that highlights the impact of hospice care
- Monitor campaign performance and ensure communications support income generation, awareness and engagement.
About you
We are looking for someone who combines strategic leadership with creativity and an empathic nature. You will bring:
- Experience in marketing and communications leadership
- Proven experience managing and developing teams
- A track record of delivering successful multichannel campaigns
- Strong strategic planning and communication skills
- Experience working with senior leadership teams and advising at executive level
- Experience securing impactful media coverage
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The confidence and adaptability to lead through change.
Experience within the charity, healthcare or hospice sector is desired, but it is not essential.
