Christmas Treecycling

Let us take the stress out of disposing of your real Christmas tree this year, with our Christmas Treecycling scheme. In exchange for a donation from you towards funding our care, our dedicated team of volunteers will collect your unwanted tree directly from outside your house, and take it away to recycle it for you.

This year more than ever, Garden House Hospice Care needs the community to support us. With funding levels at crisis point, we need to raise as much as possible through fundraisers like this to ensure we can continue to support those in need of our care.

Suggested donation amounts

  • £12 could pay for clean bedding and towels for our current patients, for one day
  • £22 could fund an hour of care on our Inpatient Unit, for one patient
  • £35 could cover a return trip our in the minibus to a Rehab and Wellbeing activity
  • £50 could pay for one seated exercise session for ~33 people attending a Wellbeing Hub
  • £102 could fund the travel costs for our Community team for one day.

Postcode restrictions

Please note we can only collect Christmas trees from postcodes SG1-9, SG15-18 and AL6.

Here's what you need to do

1. Book online by midday on Sunday 4th January, selecting a suggested donation amount and making sure to include:

    • The number of trees
    • The size of your tree(s)
    • Where your tree(s) will be left (this must be outside) and where our van can safely stop to collect.

2. Remove all festive decorations, tinsel and lights from your Christmas tree prior to collection... we won't be able to shred it if anything is left on there and can't return any decorations to you!

3. Leave your tree in your specified location from 8am on Wednesday 7th January and it will be collected at some point over the next five days (by 5pm on Sunday 11th January)*. We are unable to give specific collection slots as the scheme works on the availability of our dedicated volunteers.

4. Feel proud knowing that not only are you helping fund Garden House Hospice Care's vital services, you are also supporting other community projects in and around North Hertfordshire where we donate the tree shreddings.

*If your tree hasn't been collected in the specified time, please make sure you let us know by 5pm on Monday 12th January, and we'll send someone out as soon as possible.
