Our Vision

We are committed to providing personalised specialist palliative care with dignity and respect to those facing a life limiting illness across North Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.

The end of your life is as important as the beginning and the middle. At Garden House Hospice Care, our committed and passionate team offer physical, emotional and spiritual care to local families facing a life-limiting diagnosis. Our wide range of free services are tailored with you in mind, focussing on your wellbeing, supporting you to live well with your diagnosis to the end of your days. We believe that everyone in our community should have access to our care and we look forward to welcoming you with open arms to our care and support for future years.

Our Hospice teams work 365 days a year to support patients, their families and carers by providing care in the setting of their choice, without discrimination.

Our vision is to help provide the very highest care to the growing numbers of people that will need our services over the next 20 years.

We provide a wide range of services for patients facing a life limiting illness including Day Services, Inpatient Care, a Hospice at Home service and emotional and bereavement support.

Our patients may have been diagnosed with a wide variety of conditions such as cancer, neurological conditions, heart failure and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

All this care is delivered free of charge to anyone across North Hertfordshire and beyond who needs us.

We need to raise almost £5 million in charitable income to run these services and rely on the support of the community to fund our work. We also rely on the support of our volunteers to help us deliver our services.

"Garden House Hospice Care provides specialist palliative care for patients, families and carers facing life limiting illnesses, to enable them to have the best possible quality of life by providing care and support in the setting of their choice, without discrimination."

Garden House Hospice Care Mission Statement

  • To work as a team of both professional staff and trained volunteers dedicated to developing and maintaining the highest quality of compassionate care in co-operation with other agencies.
  • To make available a support system following the diagnosis of a life limiting condition, to help patients live as actively and creatively as possible, aiming to enhance their quality of life.
  • To integrate psychological and spiritual care for patients.
  • To respect the choices and wishes made by patients and their families.
  • To work to help the families and important others cope with patients’ illness and in bereavement.
  • To affirm life and regard death as a normal process; not seeking to hasten or to postpone death.
