You are amazing!

Lockdown may have stopped a lot of things over the last year, but one thing is for sure, nothing could get in the way of the passion of our incredible supporters and fundraisers who continued to raise vital pennies towards the care of our patients. Here are just a few fundraising highlights from the past 12 months:

John Lambert virtually walked the 268-mile route of the Pennine Way in two-mile chunks, completing his final mile at the Hospice in December. To date, John has raised over £3,500. An incredible challenge and a truly inspiring man!

Kiddi Caru Day Nurseries Group in Hitchin baked festive treats and saving money from Secret Santa to support our care. In December, we visited the tiny tots and were greeted with a donation of £280 and an extra special card for our patients and staff made by the children. Nursery Manager Sarah Mitchell said, "We have lots of fun things coming up next year in aid of the Hospice! We want to do an Easter bonanza and we really hope in the summer to do a toddle-off too”.

We saw tree-mendous results for our Christmas Treecycling campaign, with 640 trees collected and recycled in four days, over £11,500 raised in donations, two environmental projects supported and last but not least - 32 wonderful volunteers and six local companies supporting this fantastic recycling scheme.

Christmas may have been turned on its head but with companies donating money they would have spent on staff parties, individuals giving in lieu of Christmas cards and a number of generous donations in support of our Christmas Appeal – raising £34,700 – we certainly still felt the festive spirit from our community.

With thanks to the support of people like you, we have cared for hundreds of families over the last year. The importance of every penny you donate, every post you share and every word you speak about the Hospice cannot be underestimated.

You should be proud of yourselves, we certainly are!
