Clinical Education Specialist

We have an existing opportunity to work alongside our Quality Team and Clinical Leads across Garden House Hospice Care, promoting training and effective practice that enables staff to deliver safe and effective care. This is a part-time role of 15 hours per week.


Who are we and what do we do?

We are Garden House Hospice Care, the Hospice for North Hertfordshire. We are a multi award-winning hospice that puts the patient at the heart of everything we do. We are the pioneers of a nationally recognised and innovative frailty service, working with the Lister Hospital, which has seen us expanding our services and helping even more patients through symptom control, reablement or last days of life care.


What does the Clinical Education Specialist role involve?

  • Organise and provide high quality evidence-based clinical, theoretical, education and training programmes in response to identified training needs analysis based upon local and national guidelines, Quality Improvement agenda and reviews
  • Develop and deliver a bespoke/structured in-house education and training programme in line with National and CQC requirements, including a support induction programme for new starters
  • Develop, implement and maintain clinical competency framework across the clinical workforce, including (but not limited to) registered nursing staff, healthcare assistants and allied health care professionals. This will include clinical staff during induction period
  • Provide facilitation for staff to enable the development of confidence and critical thinking in clinical and operational duties
  • Facilitate and deliver learning through a blended approach using quality assured materials to support individual learning needs and styles.


What skills does the Clinical Education Specialist need?

  • You must be a Registered Nurse or Registered Allied Health Professional
  • Have experience leading and managing learning & development and education programmes and implementation of projects
  • Good communication skills to engage learners, stakeholders and team members
  • Up to date knowledge of current nursing practice and research within healthcare.
