L R Liz Lucy and Collette meet for the first time at the hospice

Summer issue of Open House is out!

The wait is over, your Summer 2022 issue of Open House is out now!

In this edition of our popular newsletter, we introduce you to sisters Collette and Liz. Both felt they had nowhere left to turn when they first contacted Lucy, our Admiral Nurse who specialises in dementia care, about their mum. That call changed everything with Lucy able to provide them with a clear answer about their mum's situation, bringing them hope and relief.

It's just one small example of the impact the Hospice can have in a matter of minutes, which brings us neatly onto our new Fund a Few Minutes Appeal. Launched as the cost of our care rapidly rises, we're asking people to help us fund a few minutes - as many or as little as you can comfortably afford - which together could help fund hours, days or even weeks of our care.

Also in this Open House, you can learn more about:

  • A tale of two friends with Dave and Stuart
  • Last year in numbers
  • We introduce you to Liz Kennedy, our Director of Patient Services
  • How we're caring for carers with new sessions
  • Our new Fund a Few Minutes Appeal
  • The return of our Sunset Starlight Walk on Sunday 11th September
  • Gez's Journey from Compassionate Neighbour to Wellbeing Hub Coordinator
  • And much more!

On behalf of everyone at Garden House Hospice Care, thank you. We hope you enjoy reading the stories in our latest Open House newsletter and know that your support is vital as we continue to make a difference to the lives of local people facing a life-limiting illness.
