ColourClash 5K - What amazing fun!

ColourClash5Krun

ColourClash 5K fun run brought Stevenage a Rainbow!

On Saturday 30th July nearly 500 runners & walkers enjoyed a colourful party atmosphere as they took part in Stevenage’s first ColourClash 5K fun run for Garden House Hospice Care.  At the start line participants danced to music and entertainment by Abacus Events and received a fun warm-up by the team from Marriotts Sports Centre.

The sun shone as nearly 500 amazing hospice supporters made their way along the course from Marriott’s Sports Centre and through Fairlands Valley Park, as they were sprayed by colour powder paint thrown by nurses, volunteers and sponsors.

Cathy White, Event Organiser, Garden House Hospice Care comments:

“ColourClash is all about celebrating happiness, togetherness and giving back to the community for a great cause. We hope this family event did just that! Thanks to everyone who took part, we were blown away to see so many colourful happy faces.  Thanks to the Mayor of Stevenage Cllr John Lloyd for being a great sport, getting paint powdered in the stocks to raise funds. Special thanks to our Event Sponsors, all the marshalls and volunteers who helped make this event happen.”

ColourClash is a sponsored event, and we hope the event will raise £25,000 to help the hospice continue free specialist care for patients across North Herts, Stevenage, Royston and surrounding villages. We encourage everyone to return their sponsorship promptly so we can reveal the grand total raised for our very first colour event.

One of the many supporters Elizabeth Fisher-Long, participated with her daughter Bethany age 7 comments:

“I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the colour run, it was great to be able to raise money for a charity so close to my family. It's easy to feel isolated when a family member needs care, the Garden House Hospice Care help us in such a huge way. The staff and nurses are wonderful in treating everyone like family, they provide a personal touch in the care they provide.

The ColourClash was lovely to bring so many families together and to provide such a fun opportunity to say thank you and give something back. This year my daughter and myself managed to raise £137. Next year we have already got two extra family members on board with the aim of raising £500”.

Well done and thank you  to everyone that took part!
