Garden House Hospice Care wins Sainsbury’s Local Charity of the Year

Sue Plummer, Chief Executive:
“We are delighted to have been voted by the Hitchin and Letchworth community to be Sainsbury’s Local Charity of the year for Hitchin, Letchworth Third Avenue and Eastcheap stores.  We are so proud to have the support from the community, it really makes a difference to the clinical team, and the support staff. Thank you to everyone who voted, as this will help continue vital hospice care to the community”.

Garden House Hospice Care provides free specialist palliative care, advice and clinical support for adults with life limiting illness and their families in North Herts, Stevenage, Royston and surrounding villages.

It provides inpatient care; a hospice at home service; a day service, 24 hour advice line, bereavement support and training & education.

Garden House Hospice Care receives only 38% funding from statutory sources. We need to raise over £2 million in charitable income per year which is made up from voluntary donations.

Katy Terry, Development Manager:
“My role is to work with local businesses in the area to raise vital funds and awareness. I am really looking forward to the opportunity to work with Sainsbury’s and the community over the next year”.
